It all started in a spring with the story of The Lemon, The Girl, and The Fig…
One early spring,…years ago, I was searching for a Lemon Tree for my mother for Easter. On a Sunday morning I stopped at a local garden center and found a beautiful Ponderosa Lemon Tree. Beautiful but a little expensive. It was for my mother and totally worth it. I knew she was going to love it. All tropical plants are expensive especially in Canada.
Excited, happy, and with the early Spring spirit in the air I started searching for something else and wasn’t sure what. After 15-20 minutes, I was about to give up when one young and friendly girl stopped and asked me: “You seem to be searching for something special! Is it for you?” I don’t think I found what I am looking for, I replied. “Here! This your plant!” and she hands me this beautiful and amazing tropical looking plant! Wow! I could swear that plant wasn’t anywhere in that store while I was searching …What is it? “It’s a Fig Tree! This is your plant! Trust me!” In all honesty, at that point in time I didn’t even know what a fresh fig was, never mind the Fig Tree! I was hesitant and skeptical not knowing anything about it. I always research and I like to know a bit more before I buy or commit to anything. The girl insisted: “Trust me! This is your plant! Just Trust me!”
And I did trust that girl! And boy was she right! Oh boy! I kept staring and admired that Fig Tree every day for a week sitting in our family room window. And it was growing by the minute!
The following Sunday morning, I got up, had my coffee, and rushed out to the garden center to buy another Fig Tree to keep the other one company… I went looking for the friendly girl but she wasn’t there. No one seemed to know the girl. Hey… it wasn’t a dream, I bought a Fig Tree last weekend… “We don’t have any Fig Trees. I don’t think we had Fig Trees this year. We haven’t had that in a while…”… I pinched myself… nope, I was there!
The rest is history… I did manage to find another fig tree that day after searching the city all day for garden centers. The following year, I added probably over 25 Fig Trees and everyone thought I was going Fig crazy!
Today, after many years of studying and research, I love growing hundreds of Fig Trees and I can proudly say:
TRUST ME! THIS IS MY PLANT! THIS IS MY FIG TREE!!!
Who we are
As the title of our website says… we are CanadianFigs. We are located in Mississauga, Ontario.
We are a Canadian family that loves Figs. And this love has transformed into passion. We are passionate about growing figs and we strive to help everyone willing to grow Fig trees in our Canadian climate and not so ideal conditions for growing figs. We offer guidance, advice, and help.
We are a small, family oriented, passionate, and unique fig grower. We offer pick up from our location in Mississauga. Local special delivery or drop off may be available under certain conditions or circumstances. Other delivery and pickup arrangements may also be made upon requests.
We know how difficult it is to find your favorite Fig variety in Canada. Do not just accept what it is easily available. Let us help you find your favorite Fig tree!
We have a large variety of Fig trees and we grow different varieties of Fig trees every year. We custom grow a lot of Fig varieties based on customers requests. We work with a lot of the local fig growers, enthusiasts, passionate fig collectors to expand our Fig varieties collection and also to obtain and secure various type of Fig varieties for our customers based on their needs and requests.
All of our fig trees that we sell are locally grown and cared for.
We sell live Fig trees during the spring and summer seasons.
